WESST PRESS RELEASES

Recycle Runway Goes to Washington

Part of the celebration of the 2009 inauguration in Washington, DC will be the Green Inaugural Ball, an event whose focus is all about being green, from 100% organic catering to composting the floral arrangements afterward. In the midst of all the greenery will be Nancy Judd, showcasing her appropriately titled “Campaign for Change Couture Collection.” The garments Nancy will bring to the ball are all made from recycled Obama campaign materials including yard signs, campaign door hangers, posters, etc. The ball will be held at the Andrew W. Melon Auditorium on January 17.

Jenna Mack is one of the ball’s producers and views Nancy’s collection as “beyond fabulous,” commenting that the work makes a statement and gets the dialogue started on recycling. Models will be showing the garments on pedestals in the lobby of the auditorium. Nancy will also be attending the reception to honor the New Mexico Congressional Delegation on January 19th as well as the inauguration itself. While in DC, she looks forward to holding conservation workshops in area schools.

While in the process of preparing for this event, Nancy was interviewed by the Wall Street Journal and landed a good-size article including one of the famous “ink portraits” in the newspaper. The article can be seen along with a Recycle Runway slideshow at the Wall Street Journal online.

Nancy Judd’s recycled fashion business got its start through WESST and now Nancy is also employed by WESST in Santa Fe to help other entrepreneurs start out in business. You could say that is a recycling of business knowledge. Learn more at www.recyclerunway.com.
