Rocky Ridge Gas + Market
Rocky Ridge Gas + Market is a Navajo-owned convenience store providing fresh food and reservation staples to the Rocky Ridge, AZ community and surrounding area. They curate “Grandma Baskets”, a selection of popular foods and staples, for relatives who want to provide Shima’ sani (grandmother) with her favorite foods as donated purchases from the market store. It is also a gas station, providing fuel to travelers and locals within a 20-mile radius of the Navajo Reservation.
Germaine reached out to WESST Farmington Women’s Business Center in April 2022 for taxation and business support after her convenience store was affected by the COVID-19 pandemic on the Navajo Nation. Consultant Holly Patterson worked with Attorney at Law Joseph Austin to help Germaine continue to provide services within the Kykotsmovi Village. She could not operate Rocky Ridge Gas & Market outside of the village due to the closure of the Navajo Nation and the nationwide shutdown in 2020, 2021, and part of 2022. With support from the WESST COVID-19 CARES funding, Holly provided business consulting, and Attorney at Law Joseph Austin helped navigate the legal issues that arose during the pandemic.

"Holly and Mr. Austin were so helpful in a time that felt like the end of the road. I am very grateful for all the support and guidance provided to me to resolve this concern with a manageable result. When my store and gas station closed, many locals were out of transportation and food. I want to continue to provide for my community; however, this was a barrier to continuing to operate my business. Thank you to Mr. Austin and Holly from WESST for providing this service for me through their CARES Funding."
