Omie’s Nizhoniful Mess

Omie’s Nizhoniful Mess is locally and Native owned by Naomi Greymountain, a Navajo woman who blends traditional Native work of beading and jewelry making along with inspiring floral designs. Nizhoniful in Navajo means beautiful, giving meaning to Naomi’s collections in which each are unique and handcrafted. Each piece of work is created and crafted in Naomi’s Navajo culture and traditions.

Naomi started making jewelry in 2019 to earn extra income during the pandemic and was encouraged by her family and friends to start her own business.  However, she was very shy, hesitant, and in need of a confidence boost. She stumbled upon the WESST Farmington Women’s Business Center by accident.  In November 2021, Naomi began consulting with the Farmington staff, off and on, still unsure if she was ready to invest the time and dedication to starting a business.  She eventually joined what would become the first cohort for our Native Women Rising program.

Naomi attended trainings and participated in one-on-one consulting services, where she has learned how to get her business off the ground. With the services provided by the Farmington WBC staff, Naomi learned designed tools in Canva, how to set up her Facebook page, and how to market her business on social media.  She learned about content creation, finding her target customers, using social media data for business growth, pricing products, and tracking finances.  Most importantly, Naomi gained the confidence needed to grow her business.  Over the past several years, Naomi has worked closely with the Farmington Women’s Business Center and their staff, expanding her product services to offer floral arrangements for grieving families.  She continues to build her brand identity and grow her online presence.
