WESST PRESS RELEASES

Technology Assistance for Small Businesses

With support from a Small Business Administration PRIME grant, WESST is targeting services to small business owners who need assistance with technology, specifically in the areas of automated financial accounting, financial reporting and inventory management systems.

Grant funds will also be used to help small businesses evaluate hardware and software technology needs.  These free two-hour technology assessments will be provided by Kosh Solutions, one of the leading IT consulting companies in New Mexico and Colorado. They provide computer consulting, networking solutions, and IT outsourcing services.  The company specializes in IT consulting, Point-of-Sale solutions, network support/security, help desk services, and telephone solutions.

“Many times, a small-business owner will grow their business organically and then come to a point where they need more information-technology infrastructure than they have – but figuring out what they need, what the priorities are, and what to get can be confusing,” said WESST business consultant and trainer Amy Lahti. “Using PRIME grant funds, we have the ability to connect small-business owners with Kosh Solutions.  Kosh will have a certified IT consultant provide a free two-hour needs analysis and assessment, working directly with the business owner. The client then receives a report from Kosh with recommended next steps.”

There is no obligation for the business owner to continue working with Kosh after the assessment is completed, Lahti added. The report the client receives will contain valuable information to help the small business move forward with their IT planning.

Small business owners working with Kosh will also interface with WESST consultants, who can provide other assessment tools and work with the owners on any other issues facing their business – including marketing, sales, financial management, and human-resources concerns, Lahti said.

“We feel this program is a great opportunity to help small-business owners and entrepreneurs who may not otherwise know where to start with something  – like a point-of-sale system, an inventory-management system, or accounting software – a jumping-off point, and expert advice to guide them through their decision-making,” Lahti said.

For more information about this program, or to connect to Kosh Solutions for services, interested small-business owners and entrepreneurs should call Amy Lahti at WESST, 246-6900, or email alahti@wesst.org
